This Client did not realize they had mold growing with slime and standing water under their shower pan. A little digging uncovered a host of problems from hiring a handyman- do it all type when they redid their shower 5 years ago. The fix? First, carefully remove the existing framed glass enclosure. Tear out the existing tile surround up to one foot or more, break up the tile floor, cement shower pan, pull out the liner and rotted wood. Next, our professional framer rebuilt the bench seat and threshold using pressure treated wood. Then our plumber came in and rebuilt the shower pan and liner. Lastly, our tile installer prepped the area with backer board and sealant and re-tiled the walls, floor and bench following the original specs carefully so that we could re-install the original glass enclosure- saving the customer money.
Result- a perfectly sealed shower with no mold or leaks!
